Youth Central Re-Launched!

Youth Central Banner

youthcentral's vibrant new visual design and digital content has landed!

The new site, still located at www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au, is packed with digital movement and opportunities for young people to interact and learn - from landing a job to feeling confident in the workplace.

There's streaming video, digital stories, podcasts, practical interactive learning tools, job seekers tool kits, and more.

You'll also find the popular FReeZA and FReeZACentral websites now at www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au. This integration not only offers FReeZA and FReeZACentral program websites significant multimedia and design advantages but the opportunity for both websites to emulate the strong youth participation philosophy that underpins youthcentral.

There are now even more reasons why youthcentral makes an excellent resource for young people, schools, youth workers, teachers, career advisers, parents and anyone with an interest in working with young Victorians and supporting them to reach their full potential.

Jobs and careers section

The new-look youthcentral is a particularly valuable resource for young job seekers.

The use of multimedia like video and interactive guides will assist young people in all aspects of job seeking, training and career planning.

The jobs and careers section covers topics such as:

  • job interviews
  • work experience
  • cold calling
  • part time and casual work
  • basic rights at work
  • negotiaing conditions
  • what employers want
  • getting an apprenticeship

Dream The Dream Competition

To launch the new-look website, youthcentral is running a fantastic competition where the winner could land their dream job.

The successful entrant wins a week-long internship in the job of their choice, along with an Apple™ MacPro Computer and an iPod Nano.

To enter, young people aged 15 to 25 need to tell us what their dream job is and why. They can write about it, record something about it, or make a video about it. Alternatively, if they're already in their dream job, they can tell us about the steps they took to get there and why it's so dreamy.

Competition details can be found at www.youthcentral.vic.gov.au/dreamthedream
